STOCKADE PRODUCTS LTD founded by Michael Chinery.
At the age of seventeen and a half, while at Art College in Colchester studying Industrial Design, I joined the local Royal Anglian Regiment (TA) unit mainly because of my interest in shooting. I had good success winning `best young soldier` at the Eastern Districts in 1984 and GPMG pairs in 1985. While in the Territorial Army I sampled my first experience of Bisley.
On leaving College I joined my Fathers business in the plastics industry, CONTACT MOULDINGS, and worked on production and tooling.
Later I set up my own business ELEVEN FIFTY PLASTICS designing and manufacturing products for industrial, marine and leisure. Including tooling for ERF lorry bodywork and some research and development work for the Ministry of Defence.
My most interesting project being the design and rebuild of an SH2 Hovercraft hull, into a modern updated five-man commercial hovercraft. From 2004 to 2005, for Hover Marine Services Ltd. Most of the years work was done in theory not really knowing if it would work until the engine and lift fan were sparked into life. With the engine on low revs, the lift fan engaged and the skirt filled with air. The craft lifted and hovered perfectly. That was a fantastic moment, and great relief. It was also very quiet as a modern car diesel engine was used, a first for any hovercraft.
Since 2003 I have been involved with shooting again, competing in Gallery Rifle competitions nationwide throughout the year. I have enjoyed many national wins and have been a member of the National Squad and the winning European Team of 2007.
The Marlin was designed for use with iron sights, but we use scopes, and that means that the comb on the stock is too low. So I made a higher comb for my rifle, and then started the development of a production version good enough to sell in 2006. And so STOCKADE PRODUCTS LTD was formed to market and produce the STOCKADE adjustable comb and associated shooting goods.
While looking for well designed products to market in the UK for shooting sports I came across I-SHOT in the US, and we have now started working together to supply the UK market.
STOCKADE PRODUCTS LTD aims to supply only the best-manufactured and designed products to UK shooter, and still remain an active competitor in the sport.
